![]() Keeping with the buy local principles, we go out every year to Sanford's Tree Farm in Youngsville to pick out our Christmas Tree. Sanfords have a great selection of beautiful trees. They provide horse-drawn wagon rides to the field and also bale and drill the trees when you bring them down. It makes for a great family outting every year. The peole who work with them are nice and the prices are very reasonable. This year again, our oldest son chose a great looking Frazier Fir to decorate our house. Mommy's turn to add to this...This was actually the second tree my son picked out. I was able to get 500 lights on the tree, which was not an easy task as there were holes and one side was completely flat. If it were just Dave and I, I would have never given this six foot tree a first glance. However, the special meaning behind my son saying, "This is a nice tree, I want this one!" makes it the most beautiful and perfect tree for our foyer/basketball/volleyball court (yes, we play ball in the house...my apologies to his future wife). It simply is beautiful all decorated and lit up and I'm so proud of our little one. He melted my heart when as we were decorating he stopped to say, "Merry Christmas, Mommy." Then when we were all finished he grabbed my hand, we stood in front of our tree and sang,"We wish you a Merry Christmas" many times (the animals on his Word World DVD did this with their tree). Back to the first tree...it was a beautiful tree as well...just the tree my single or newly-married self would have picked out long ago. It rivaled the tree found in Rockefeller Center, every branch perfectly placed, and towering. However, it was probably a good three feet taller than our ceiling, so there was no way we could even work to make it fit. I told our dear son that we could come back for that tree once daddy puts the addition on the house. *wink*
